Before you start traveling through Geometry Dash’s tough cubes, take a look at these helpful tips for beginners.
Important changes to the game have been made with the release of update 2.2, which includes many new features. The goal of this update is to make the game bigger. You can now enjoy a lot of new features. We are here to help you learn more about these important changes and improvements.
New Swing Mode
The game’s modes are thought of as different types of gameplay physics and mechanics, and you can switch between them to make things more interesting. With this update, there are now eight different game modes, including cube, ship, and others. A new mode called “Swing Mode” is also added.
If we think of the Swing mode as a ship with jet engines that can change direction between going up and down, each tap acts as a gravity reverser. You move up when you tap and the lower jet engine starts up, and down when you tap.
To get a better feel for how the game works, you should first try Swing mode in the level designer with no hurdles.
New Platformer Game Type
The game type has always been a standard game type, with auto-scrolling and tapping to avoid barriers. This is what makes the game difficult, but adding a new game type is a great way to make things more interesting. Even though the standard layout of the game will stay the same in this new type, platformers let you move around freely.
One more thing is that you can choose to move forward or backward, and there are now stops that you can use in game levels.
The level designer lets you choose the platformer game type if you want to make a level with that type of game.
We now have a new block type called IceBlock as well. This setting makes blocks slippery, which makes the player slide further and makes it harder to control in Platformer levels.
New Levels
If you want to check out the five new official levels that come with this update, four of them are called “The Tower.”These levels were made for the type of game called “platformer,” which is how the game is played.
“The Tower,” “The Sewers,” “The Cellar,” and “The Secret Hollow” are the levels. You can get to them from the main levels menu in “The Tower.”
This is the fifth level, “Dash,” which is a famous game type. The new features, like the Swing mode, are shown off in this setting.
New Shops
There are now two new shops, the Mechanic Shop and the Diamond Shop, which means that you can buy new things. The new update added two shops. They are in the Treasure Room, where you can find them.
Along with the two new shops, the Music Unlocker and the Music Customizer are two new features that stand out.You can buy the Music Unlocker from the Diamond Shop so that you can use music from Normal Mode in Practice Mode.
The Music Customizer, on the other hand, can be bought in the Mechanic Shop and lets players change the menu and sound to any song downloaded from Newgrounds or the Music Library.
You can’t go into the new shops until you talk to the Diamond Shopkeeper and the Mechanic Shopkeeper and spend Diamonds.
New Gauntlets
The Lost Gauntlet is a feature that gives you five steps in each Gauntlet, each one getting harder than the last. Before, we had fifteen gauntlets. Now we have five more: the “World Gauntlet,” the “Galaxy Gauntlet,” the “Universe Gauntlet,” the “Discord Gauntlet,” and the “Split Gauntlet.”
Other Features
The vault secrets were already out there, but now we have more vault codes that we can use in the Vault of Secrets, the Vault, and the Chamber of Time.
One button now controls the “Versus” mode, which is an online mode; another button controls “The Map,” which has material like GD World; and a third button controls “Event” Levels. These buttons are there, but you won’t be able to use them until the 2.21 update.
Before, stars were the prize for finishing standard levels. Now, “Moons,” which are new items, are the major reward for finishing Platformer levels.
We now have a Lists button that lets you get Diamonds by finishing a certain number of steps in each list. Each list will have a selection of levels chosen by judges. You can also make your own lists and share them with other people.
The update also adds more boxes and different types of chests, which makes your keys more useful by giving you more prizes. There are also now more than 400 extra pictures that can be used.
New Level Editor Features
The Level Editor is an important part of this game because it lets players add a lot of new material. The level creator now has more tools that make the game better and bigger.
We now have a purple double-arrow ball and a purple pad. Depending on which way the orb or pad faces, they can change your gravity and move you above or below. There is also a new green opening that changes the direction of gravity.
There’s a new block type called “Passable” that lets you jump over solid things and land on them from above.
In addition to adding an extra layer, triggers let you change game features even more, and there are now more than 80 of them to choose from. These are some of the most important ones:
- With the Reverse button, you can go backwards through a level.
- If you press the Zoom button, the level can zoom in or out as you see it. From the Edit Object, you can choose how much to zoom in or out.
- You can focus on an item with a certain group ID using the Static trigger.
- The Gravity switch lets you change the level’s gravity, which changes how high you can jump. When you first open the Edit Object, this setting is set to 1.0, but you can change it there.
- You can also add more effects with triggers like Shock Wave, Shock Line, Glitch, Pixelate, and others. This lets you change the visual effects of levels even more.
We have a new Keyframe system that gives you more control over how groups move and how things move. Now you can change a lot of things, which lets you add more moving parts to your levels.
The game already has a lot of blocks that let us change how any level looks. Now there are even more arts and blocks, like pixel art, that let you change how any level looks even more.
Today, there is a brand-new Particle designer that lets you make more complicated particle effects and gives you more customization choices. Also, over 40 new fonts and backgrounds give us more options for backgrounds and grounds. This means you can make as much content as you want, especially when you mix them with other visual effect options.
